St. George and the Dragon

This is a detail photo of a painting I have always loved - St. George and the Dragon by Albrecht Altdorfer, 1510. Part of why it strikes me is the lack of a dead dragon in a medieval painting of St. George. In fact, if you notice, St. George's spear seems to hang downward in a very relaxed manner, while he and the dragon take stock of each other. I have for some time now thought I would like to use this as inspiration for my own piece about St. George. Not sure exactly where this is going, but I will keep you posted.
