Yesterday our little gallery Plein Air group was supposed to meet at the Holden Horse Farm in the early evening to paint. And when I say little…the max we could probably expect to show up, under the best of circumstances, is 6 or 7. Yesterday only three of us were available, and the weather was still hot (not a problem for me, but others balked).
We met at the front gate of the horse farm. Not being a real fan of horses, I thought that was the prettiest part of the whole place. Gorgeous, ancient sycamore trees shaded the entrance, and mature pines lined the other side of the entrance.
We went in to the horse barn and met the owners – they have about 100 horses, and raise them to race at the local horse tracks. About this time, one of our painters got a call that her 91 year old mother wasn’t well, so she left. So the two of us who were left set about taking some pictures for reference:
We discovered that our other group member is quite allergic to horses.
