Hagia Sophia restoration

Just ran across this article documenting the restoration of more mosaics seraphim_bigaat the Hagia Sophia.  It is so heartening to see work continue to preserve these treasures.  The seraphim face (shown in the inset) was recently uncovered after 160 years beneath 7 layers of plaster, applied during the reign of the Ottomans.  The mosaic is estimated to be at least 700 years old!
