I love the first few days of working on a new piece! It’s all still exciting and new, the possibilities are endless, and I probably haven’t screwed anything up yet. Probably.
This time I’m working on an autumn landscape. I could very easily get in a rut, doing almost nothing else. I love autumn – always have. I love the color combinations. I love the smells. I love the golden light. I love the chill and a good scotch by a campfire.
The inspiration for this one is those days when the sky is a grey/blue and mist hangs among the trees. I love the contrast of the cool sky and mist with the vibrant leaves and dark, wet tree trunks. Here’s the start of it:
